We made it to Marathon, Florida in the Florida Keys - on the Caribbean side. That was the day before New Years Eve. Since then we've been tackling a problem with our dinghy outboard motor. It's a Yamaha 4hp and was stored by the boatyard in Palmetto, Florida with the gas still in the tank and carburetor. I've taken it apart and it ran but not perfectly, which is what I wanted for a safe trip across the ocean. A local marine repair fellow was highly recommended and I motored to shore and removed the carb and hiked to his place of business. He showed how to break it down and clean it and showed me where the shellac had spread to jets that had previously been cleaned.
Now it's running great and so we're off tomorrow after a visit to a car parts place to pick up a few belts and gas additives for the inboard diesel engine. I'll be uploading photos when we get to an internet cafe, so stay tuned. Michael

I'm tuned... this is the only way I'm going to experience this in my lifetime... I think.
Smooth Sailing, Maties!
Well that all sounds very exciting! Are the sharks circling yet?!?
Sounds exciting! Good luck!
MIAMI (Reuters) - An Arkansawian van driver died after a shark bit his leg in the Bahamas, authorities said on Monday.
The Arkansawian consulate in Miami identified the man as Michael Farar, 62, a retiree from Fayetteville.
The U.S. Coast Guard said it sent a rescue helicopter to pick up the man on Sunday after receiving a mayday call from the Florida-based charter dive boat Shear Water, saying that a man had suffered a shark bite wound.
The victim was flown from the scene, about 5 miles north of Great Isaac Cay in the Bahamas, to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, where he was pronounced dead, the Coast Guard said.

Pirates captured a small sail boat off the Bahamas early this morning.
Two crew members, Mike and John, said they were being treated well.
Mike, who earlier this week was presumed dead from a shark attack, said he always wanted a wooden leg.
The pirates are demanding a $200 ransom.
The Coast Guard has dispatched a negotiating team.
Damn it cuzzin Pat, you scared the shit out of me... don't do that any more!
Sincerely.. and I mean it,
cuzzin Patt
cuzzin Patt,
Don't be so sensitive!
:)))
Patt, meet Pat. Yes, we're related. Such a pool of "talent"! I thought it was pretty funny. Idle hands. Oh well.
Love to you all, Michael
Cousin Patt, this is cousin Jeff. Don't mind what cousin Pat has to say - I am keeping an eye on him. Regardless, I have not heard from Mike lately, maybe the pirates did get him?!? Love... Jeff
